Noble Family Tree

Jonathan Noble, b: 1760 in England was the founder of our family in America. Jonathan & his wife Nancy first settled in Maryland with their eleven children, of whom Henry, Jonathan, John, Elijah, James, Margaret,, Nellie and Rose Ann are remembered. Jonathan Noble later moved his family to Cincinnati, Ohio, when the country was still in a wild state, the only buildings in the vicinity of the city being Buckyre cabins. There he owned 160 acres of land. His son John was the first Mayor of Cincinnati. Jonathan Noble again removed his family to Claremont county, Ohio settling on the present site of New Richmond, on the Ohio River, where he cleared up a farm. In later life he again moved Rush County, Indiana, again a pioneer, and entered 40 acres, his son John entering 160 acres. The land was mainly cleared by his sons. Elijah Noble brought his father to live with him after his mother died, March 14, 1848 & lived with him for the rest of his life, during ten of which he was blind. He died in Madison, County, fully aged 110 years . Jonathan & Nancy are buried in Alexandria, Indiana.

I have found information from others in the family that Jonathan & wife Nancy were not born in England, Jonathan Noble was born in or near Snow Hill, Worchester Co. Maryland.

Jonathan & Lucinda Noble's brick home still stands West of Rigdon, Indiana. They are both buried at Knox Chapel cemetery, Grant County, Indiana. Parents of Lucinda Noble were Ebenezer Smith & Mary Ann Hadden, m: 1828.

James Hadden Noble m: 11/5/1885 to Frances Ayers b: 8/22/1866,d: 3/13/1841. James d: 8/1/1935 in Ceres, California. Both buried in the Modesto, California.
